Big 9 Records, named in honor of Chattanooga’s formerly known “Ninth Street,” now MLK Blvd.,imagines the used record store archetype as a community space and studio for archiving music, stories, and a sense of place. By inviting people to answer questions and participate in activities in the sleeves of albums, Golson guides the process of a community archive of music history, while also preserving the memory of the rich musical legacy of Ninth Street. Big 9 Records has also been exhibited at ArtPrize10 in Grand Rapids, MI.
